What a start to 7v7 for the Bobcats!
The Windlesham United Bobcats made their first appearance in 7v7 football at the Sandhurst FC Pre-Season Festival, and what a way to begin.
Having had very little football together over the summer, the girls stepped onto the pitch ready for a new challenge and adapted brilliantly throughout the festival.
The Bobcats played eight matches, finishing with an impressive four wins, three draws and just one defeat, scoring 9 goals and conceding only 6.
The day started brilliantly with a 3–1 victory over Sandhurst FC Wolves, followed by a 1–0 win against Sandhurst FC Warriors. The girls then faced Sandhurst FC Wildcats, suffering their only defeat of the day, going down 2–0.
They responded immediately with a 0–0 draw against Wokingham Town Lionesses, before another hard-fought 1–1 draw with Sandhurst FC Wolves.
The Bobcats then finished the festival strongly, beating Sandhurst FC Warriors 2–1 and Sandhurst FC Wildcats 2–1, before another 0–0 draw against Wokingham Town Lionesses.
Across the day, the girls showed fantastic character, confidence and determination. Moving into 7v7 brings plenty of new challenges, from understanding the extra space on the pitch to making quicker decisions and working together in different areas of the game. The girls continued to learn and improve with every match.
Most importantly, they enjoyed themselves, supported one another and showed exactly what this group is capable of.
A huge thank you to all the parents for their brilliant support throughout the day. Your encouragement from the sidelines makes such a difference and is hugely appreciated.
This is only the beginning of the Bobcats’ 7v7 journey, but it has certainly been a very exciting start.
Well done, Bobcats. What a way to begin the new season!
