A tough introduction to a higher league today. I checked back, and we have gone from Division 5 to Division 3, I imagine, based on our strong run of results in the second half of last season. And it was quite a step up for the girls today.
The girls battled hard all the way through against an opposition that was technically very good but also pretty robust in the challenge. But we never gave in and were rewarded by a goal late on.
A particular highlight: Amelia E winning a penalty and calmly slotting it home from the spot on her debut - well done, Amelia, a fantastic start to your time with the Lynx.
There were signs all over the pitch of a real improvement in our passing game; one pass from Grace, which split their defence, particularly stands out for me. And when we knocked the ball around and got our heads up, we looked so good going forward.
Well done girls, you battled so hard, and I'm sure the results will come our way soon.
Onwards to next week against Epsom and Ewell, who were also 2 leagues above us last year... :-)
