A very exciting and hard fought game for the last of the season.
What a great game of football, with some seriously good moves throughout the game, some wonderful passing, and so many shots I lost count.
The tale of the game can be summed up by their goalkeeper's Player of the Match performance. A number of great saves, tips over the bar, one off her back - we just couldn't quite get the second goal our overall play deserved.
Territory and Possession stats were well in our favour and I thought Motspur had some really good players as well, so this was no mean feat.
Thanks as always to the goalkeepers, who do a great job every week - the girls considered offering the Motspur Park GK a contract at the end of the game - they were offering £10!
Our defence was solid for so much of the game, and although we needed a few good saves, we really reduced their shots to just a few and our distribution to clear out lines is getting better and better. Paige in particular picking out some lovely forward passes and such composure on the ball. Well done Paige, Chloe, Grace and Delilah.
Our defensive midfield duties, shared by Ava and Grace, was exceptional again - you could both easily have been Player of the Match today. Ava came away with so many balls she had no right to win, and Grace's positional sense and distribution I thought was tremendous - well done to both of you.
Onto the wingers... well done of course to Delilah for a great goal, and what a smile and celebration from the whole team! Well done Delilah. ⚽
Ruby and Amelia ran tirelessly, taking up great positions and spraying some lovely passes. Both unfortunate not to pick up a few goals.
And finally to Flo and Paloma, who did a great job of holding up the ball and brining the rest of the team into the game. Great ball control and running meant we were always pushing the Motspur team backwards and for large chunks of the game they were unable to get out of their half - proper defending from the front.
