Today, the Wildcats faced off against Elstead Sharks, a team we had never played before. Missing a few key players, the conditions were challenging with the pitch resembling a skid pan. Despite this, the Wildcats started the first half strongly, controlling the midfield and showing solid defensive work. Our attack created several chances, and it felt like we should have been well ahead by halftime.

However, after an injury to one of our key players, the balance shifted, and Elstead took advantage. They capitalised on our loss of shape and managed to put themselves 2-0 up. But true to form, the Wildcats didn’t give up, continuing to battle hard despite the setback.

With 10 minutes remaining, we switched to a more attacking formation, leaving just two defenders at the back to push for a comeback. The gamble paid off when we pulled one goal back with just under five minutes to go, and soon after, we found the equaliser with a great strike. We pressed hard for a winner, but it wasn’t to be, and in the dying moments, a crucial save ensured the points were shared in what was a heart-stopping match for all watching!

The Wildcats can be proud of their never-give-up attitude, showing great resilience to come back from 2-0 down. After a well-deserved rest over the half-term break, we’ll return to action on 3rd November against league leaders Teddington—a team we know we can beat, having already done so in the cup!
