Today, the Wildcats faced off against Caterham Pumas from Division 5 in the League Trophy. Despite the two-division gap, Caterham Pumas played like a team from an even higher division, with their well-organised play and physicality. They moved the ball well and posed a tough challenge throughout the game. Though some of their physicality could have been penalised on another day, the Wildcats gave their all and stayed in the fight.

While Caterham Pumas had the edge in quality, our Wildcats showed plenty of heart. The only thing missing was slightly quicker execution of our attacking plays. As soon as we start making those instinctive runs before the pass arrives, we will become a much more dangerous team.

The final score of 4-0 didn’t fully reflect the effort and chances we created. We were unlucky not to find the back of the net, and in hindsight, we might have been beaten by the eventual winners of the league trophy. A late switch to a 3-2-3 formation saw us create several breakaway chances, but unfortunately, today wasn’t our day in front of goal.

Despite the loss, it was a valuable learning experience for the team. We'll take the lessons from this match and turn our focus to the next game, where we return to league action at home against Elstead Sharks U13.
